Eachine Lizard 105S Overview and FS-i6X Binding

Posted by UpInTheSky on January 12, 2019 · 6 mins read

The Eachine Lizard 105S is a 105mm FPV Racing/Freestyle quadcopter. It comes with no transmitter and three possible choices for receiver protocol: Flysky AFHDS-2A, DSM2/DSMX, Frsky XM+. So, depending on our transmitter, we choose the compatible one.

Since in my case the transmitter is the Flysky FS-i6X, in this article we will take a look at the version mounting a receiver compatible with Flysky AFHDS-2A protocol, which is the Flysky Flit10.

The user manual is really detailed and contains all the informations to get the quad in the air. It also has a scheme with all spare parts number, which is really useful if some replacement is needed.

Motors and propellers

The Eachine Lizard 105S is equipped with small, but powerful motors: they are the Eachine 1104 6000KV brushless motors and they weight only 5.6 grams; they are pretty cheap, so having a couple spare motors laying around is recommended.
Stock 2435 propellers work pretty good with those motors. Even if they are durable, due to the material which absorb well crashes, it is always a good idea to buy some spare propellers and have them in your bag when you go to your flying spot.

Integrated On Board DVR

The Eachine Lizard 105S has a nice feature: Digital Video Recording (DVR). This means it is possible to record flight footage, on board, through the FPV camera using an SD card (better if class 10). If the SD card is inserted, the integrated DVR will start recording videos by just pressing the button located on the board:

Beware that maximum SD card supported size is 32 GB: BlitzWolf BW-TF1 Class 10 UHS-1 32GB is a good choice.

Buzzer and Leds Board

A little board with a buzzer and leds is placed on the back of the Lizard 105S. Be careful because it is not well fixed, so I suggest to put back some stronger double side tape. Moreover, it is a good idea to check the soldering points (in my case some wires got disconnected after few flights). The buzzer does a good job and can be heard from pretty far away.

Battery

As stated before, the included battery is an Eachine 4S 14.8V 550mAh 60C LiPo battery. As always, included batteries are not that good in terms of performance, so I suggest to take something better like these ones (they have the same XT30 connector, so you are good to go):

They have same mAh, but higher discharge rate. Weight is 86 grams.

Flysky FS-i6X Binding

In this section it is shown how to bind the Eachine Lizard 105S to the Flysky FS-i6X transmitter.
To enter in binding mode we have to press and hold the binding button on the Lizard 105S receiver while connecting the battery to the quad.

Once the battery is connected, if the quad is in binding mode, you should see a green led blinking fast on the receiver. Then, it is just a matter of turning on the transmitter and, if the bind process is successful, the green led becomes solid. If the led blinks slowly, it means the receiver is getting no signal from the transmitter.

Conclusions

We have seen an overview of the Eachine Lizard 105S which is a very nice FPV freestyle/racing mini quad: it is a good quad for who wants to start a journey in the FPV world.
Comparing its behavior to the Eachine X220S, it has a pretty similar style, but you can feel the difference in the momentum due to the weight difference. However its brushless motors are really powerful so they allow to perform hard freestyle maneuvers.

The Eachine Lizard 105S can be found here at a good price.
