The iFlight Nazgul5 V2 4S / iFlight Nazgul5 V2 6S is a 5 inch FPV Racing/Freestyle quadcopter; it comes both in BNF (Bind aNd Fly) and PNP (Plug aNd Play) version. Similarly to its predecessor, the BNF version offers two types of FrSky receivers, but this time we have also a TBS addition:
This is ideal if you have a Taranis transmitter (the third one needs TBS Crossfire module for long range), like the Taranis X9D Plus SE 2019, which is one of the best transmitters at the moment. Otherwise, you can choose the PNP version (without receiver) so you can equip the iFlight Nazgul5 V2 with your preferred receiver (for example, if you have a FlySky transmitter you can use the Flysky X6B 2.4G 6CH i-BUS PPM PWM Receiver for AFHDS, which is very good).
Package Contents
iFlight Nazgul V2 manuals are available here, including factory dumps and wiring diagrams which is very nice.
Specifications
Frame
iFlight Nazgul5 frame is an X frame (240mm * 240mm) with arms connected individually to the center of the frame.
There are a lot of TPU parts covering exposed portions of the frame (for example, at the end of each arms to protect motors in case of a crash).
FPV Camera
FPV camera is the 2.1mm Caddx Ratel 1200 TVL and the cable to change the configuration is included (even if the port to plug it in is not so easy to reach). The FPV camera is mounted on TPU so it is possible to fit a micro camera there. The quality is pretty good and there is not so much noise in the video feed.
Motors and Propellers
Like its predecessor, iFlight Nazgul5 V2 comes with XING-E 2207 1800KV, which have proven to be really smooth motors (4S version comes with 2750KV motors); the 5140 3-blade props included are lightweight and they are just a perfect combination with the motors.
If you want to have some spare props, you can find them here: iFlight Nazgul5 5140 5140 3-Blade Propellers.
ESCs and FC stack
iFlight Nazgul5 V2 is equipped with SucceX-E F405 V2.1 45A 2-6S Flight Stack (MPU6000 gyro). The flight controller is loaded with Betaflight 4.2.0.
VTX
VTX is SucceX Force 5.8GHz 800mW, which can be set at the following power outputs: 25mW/200mW/400mW/800mW. This is a nice improvement allowing to fly at long distances or in places where walls are a problem for signal transmission; it is paired with Albatross RHCP SMA 5.8GHz antenna which is made for both analog and digital transmission.
Battery
Like for all BNF drones, battery is not included, so you have to buy it separately. A good choice for the 6S version is the TATTU 1300mAh 22.2V 75C 6S Lipo Battery. Otherwise, for the 4S version, a good option is the TATTU 1550mAh 14.8V 75C 4S Lipo Battery Pack. Both have already the XT60 connector like the one on the drone.
HD Camera
As always a good choice for the HD camera is the well known GoPro Hero and here you can find the perfect TPU mount made by iFlight, including also ND8 lens filter: TPU Adjustable GoPro 5/6/7/8 Mount (0~60°) w/ND8 Lens Filter for iFlight TITAN XL5/DC5/Nazgul5/SL5/SL5-E. If you do not want to spend much, a very good alternative is the Runcam 5, which can record FPV videos also in 4k@30fps (here you can find an overview of the camera).
3D printed TPU camera mounts for GoPro (this one is less expensive than the one mentioned before, but it is not adjustable) and Runcam 3/3S/5 are available at the links down below (comprehensive of ND filter and lens protection cap):
Conclusions
iFlight Nazgul5 was really good, but the upgraded version is even better with the 800mW VTX, probably the best 2020 BNF/PNP freestyle quad at this price.
iFlight Nazgul5 V2 is available in 4S version here, while the 6S version is available here.
